John Lill

Wednesday 24 March, 7.30pm

harJL_Mosc02L.jpg “Lill…a majestic presence…mellow and relaxed, fingers caressing rather than compressing the keys… one was immediately drawn in by the unforced, unselfconscious beauty of the sound.” Edward Seckerson, The Independent.

Arguably Britain’s most revered pianist, John Lill is an acknowledged master of the great 19th Century piano masterpieces. He arrives at the Howard Assembly Room to mark composer Frederic Chopin’s 200th birthday with a programme including two Polish dances, Polonaise written when Chopin had left his homeland to settle in Paris, and the Ballade No4 which is widely considered to be Chopin’s most musically intense and technically challenging works for solo piano.
