Opera North explores folk and fable from the heart of Europe with a brand new opera The Gypsy Bible by composer Joe Townsend and words by Alasdair Middleton (The Adventures of Pinocchio, The Enchanted Pig). A dark, lyrical and atmospheric immersion in to the magic, myth and storytelling traditions surrounding the creation of the violin. Sung, spoken and played by the UK’s most exciting folk musicians and performers, directed by Complicite Associate.
